Marie Basahkirtseff, Argentine
Portrait of a woman

The paintings of this Virtual Gallery are presented precisely to scale according to the photographs of Marie Bashkirtseff that accompany them. We intend to show the magnitude of some of her works.

With this list, we complete the record of Marie Bashkirtseff's paintings. There are also some data missing here (including some images of the works). Mainly the precise sizes of the paintings are missing so this Gallery is not to scale.

More information about the following works, as soon as possible.

Marie Bashkirtseff left more than 200 works, including paintings, drawings, studies and sketches. Several of them were destroyed or had been lost during the Second World War.

Sometimes, paintings from private collections or posters that are attributed to her hand, appear at online sales. Since Marie was not used to sign all her paintings, it is not easy to confirm their authenticity, nevertheless an uncommon style allows us to harbour doubts over some of the works attributed to her.
